Allow Me to Introduce Myself
My name is Bernadette McCarthy and I live in Florida's Tampa Bay area. I have been designing and developing websites for more than 10 years. However, my skills and techniques have been refined within the last 6 years to design sites that are pleasing to the eye, as well as properly provide the appropriate atmosphere for the current audience that the site requires. Site development has taught me how to design not only the front-end of a website, but also to provide a user-friendly and robust user climate on the back-end.
Skills and Techniques
- Cross-browser, standards-compliant designs using CSS and semantic code
- Proficient with PHP and MySQL
- Basic search engine optimization
- Proficient with Adobe Photoshop and Macromedia Fireworks
- Ability to develop a site from a design mockup or template
- Ability to develop code using WYSIWYG editors, like Dreamweaver, or a simple text editor, like Notepad

Although my preference is to provide completely unique designs, I am experienced with the Joomla and WordPress content management systems (CMS).
The thing I enjoy most about designing and/or developing a website, is the opportunity to learn about new topics. Understanding the topic gives me the ability to understand the goal of my client, enabling me to provide the type of site they were envisioning. After all, owning a website has become one of, if not THE most popular ways people present their information.
